Keuter, Mr. nnd Mrs. Chase Hohnenkamp, Mr. nnd Mrs. Herman Seigrist, and all of them know the art of entertaining in a most royal manner. The Country club was djcorntetl with cut flowers and the cheerful fire place bade awarm welcome to th'j guests as they arrived. One of the most pleasant evening entertainments in the history of the Young Woman's Educational Auxil iary was given Tuesday evening at the home of Cora Hurding Scott on Adums avenue, with Mrs. Scott, Mr.-. Vera Wattenburg, Mrs.'Piaegcr and Miss Bertha Walainger as hostesses for the evening. An enlhusiastiv busi ness .meeting conducted by the presu dent, Mrs. Sherwood Williams, pre ceded the program. The president re ported the amount of s! turned over to the ;Red Qross Thrift Shop, the proceeds of a Candy sale conducte.l by the Auxiliary. Miss Bertha Wal- singer announced the study of poetry for the evening. An enthusiastic busi- review of some of our best poets ant, their favorite works; ending with a reading, "I Ain't A-Goin' to Cry No More." The following numbers were then given:-'Miss Nell Mahuffey read two of James Whitcomb Riley's poems, "Orphan Annie, and I wo Little Girls"; Miss Lida McGuiro sang "Dutch Lullaby,'' written ty Eugene Field, with music by DcCovan; Mr'. Aldrich accompanied her. A reading by Mrs. Thomas Wasinger, "An Or der for a Picture," by Alice Cnry, was followed by a tableau, in which Mrs. Vera Watenburg and little Sonny Wattenburg and Worth Epling took part. A musical monologue, "The Kour-lAaf Clover," by Mrs. Ella Hig- ginson, music by Combs, was read by Cora Harding Scott, accompanied on the piano by Miss Donna Smith an J Miss Ruth Ouiitley on the violin. pantomime, "The Children's Hour," by ixjngfellow, was taken part in by the Misses Brnnche Clark, Clema Shaw, Phyllis Dunn, 'Elizabeth Healey am! read by Mrs. Praeger. A whistling solo by Cora Harding Scott was the closing ' number .after which very unique and dainty refreshments were served by the hostesses. . Many people who didn't happen to see '"Jerry the Tramp," presented un der the auspices of the Ad Club last Monday evening, have opportuned the club to present the play again at some nearby date. The club officials and the actors have taken the matter un der advisement. - ' ' "The pros and cons of the 1025 fail tax" will be the theme for discussion by the Methodist Men's Club at their first regular meeting night from the year. 'her audience forgot the world and everything that is in it Adeline Pattl once electrified the na tion with that old selection and thi- little girl from the sunny southland is not only another Patti but she has some features that are more pleasinir and more delightful. And when she sang "(Mother .Much roe" it was plain to all tnat tne cul tivated and gifted human voice of a singer could lead armies of men m lattlej It was plain that her sweet tones could nurse the aching heart could relieve distress in almost any form. Yes, Virginia Rett is a wonderful singer. La Grande is ready to adopt her. Mr. McCoole at tho puino ac companied her perfectly. Women of i.Mooseheart Legion met at the home of Mrs. C. S. Shultz for the social meeting, Thursday after noon. The time was spent at needle work and many musical numbers. At the close of the afternoon Juncheo:i was served by the hostess.
