prise and Josephs boys figure that

look out next time. Anyway it was a
hard fought game from Btart to finish
with everyone piaving to rvin to such
an extent that Josenh boasts thre
broken bones along with a million oth
er football bruises;
Mrs. Daisy Greenwood of Joseph
frave a party Monday ovenintr in honor
of her mother, Mrs. Jane Daiipherty,
the occasion being the 74th biitltday
anniversary of Ma Hnugherty. Mrs.
Daugherty has lived for many years
in Wallowa county. Her home was In
the Chisminmus country farmor'.v
but she ha lived in Joseph for th.'
past ten or twelve vears. She live

a slight handicap on the way out with

was pleasant.

may be mentioned among the first.
Kveryone is enthusiastic and when ul!

some tendency for speeding, which
needs to be discouraged or the road
will hurdly be safe to the more wine
and conservative drivers. There is
danger too of skidding now before
the rock is packed, which muny do not
realize.
Joseph high school was saddened
Monday by news of the death In Port
land of Mrs. Thomas, mother of 'our
commercial teacher, Mrs. Murriel Am
ey. Mrs. Thomus has been ill many
months, following an attack of pleur
isy in the spring, from which she has
never recovered. Her home was in
Hellingham, Washington, but she wont
to a sanatorium in Portland in May
and was unable to leave it before her
lust call came. The body was taken
to Uellingham for burial. Joseph ex.
tend sincere sympathy to Mrs. Aincy
in her sorrow.
