There are those who pay promptly and those who finally nay. but. not promptly. Business hinges on those who pay and pay it-on the dot don't forget that, and the ones who lag and mime who never nay are the curse of the business world. ' The man working for seventy-five dolhrs a month who pays for what he buys on the (bite he agrees to, is a better customer than the man worth half a million dollars who pays when he crets irood and ready. Any store in La Grande would rather have the business of a widow who strives to live within her ireuns and pays her bill: each month than the business of a captain of industry who lin irers and pays any old time it pleases him. ';.'?. Ordinarily La Grande is the best pay town in the country. It is a pay roll town and the business for the preceding month, that is the bulk of it, is cleaned up on the month following. At present things are in an upheaval, due to so many of the boys being out of work, and many find it hard to keep up their usual custom, but when things are normal La Grande people, as a whole, pay and pay promptly. ' ' . Then there is a class of peculiar human beings who must have consideration. They are eventually going to do something big and they base everything on when that happens. To deal with them means to carry them, and all of their obligations must be paid by some one. N Another class is the fellow who always pays for his own needs and finally pays for a lot of. other people. A man goes to work for you. He has to have a car to get around. He will pay for the gas and oil and repair bills, sure he will. But. when he final ly quits, the garage man comes around and you pay the bill; It was ever tlnis it will ever be thus so cheer up.
