Teachers Need Apartments. The housing question was the sub ject of extended discussion, espccial- y regarding tne tciuauvo pmiis n apartment house here. A. C. Hampton, superintendent of schools, pointed out the necessity for provid ng better housing conditions for teachers. "The housing of teachers here is a very serious problem,'' Mr. Hampton ;aid. "Teachers' living quarters in L,a Grande are not at all satisfactoy. A change should be "brought about iccause they will be happier and more contented if housed in smull apart ments." . Mr. Hampton also discussed similar innrtments in Pendleton where an t8,000 apartment Ijuilding was rc- -ently erected. Ihere are io-uute-room apartments in the building, rent ing for from $45 to JI37.50 per month. The building is owned by ten Pendleton lusiness men. Mr. Hampton pointed out that there are 02 teachers in the schools, many of whom are clamoring for better living quarters. Pest House Report. H. E. Coolidge, chairman of the pest house . committee reported to the club. He stated that his commit tee had met with both the city and cuunty officials and that all expressed a desire to join and build a pest house which would handle a situation Sim- i ilur to the one confronting Lu Grande : this winter. i Endorse Aircraft Company. ' Walter Lees, of the La Grundc Air craft company, asked the endorse ment of the club for his company. He explained that he expected to .solicit business in all parts of eastern Ore gon and that the club's endorsement would do much to eliminate antag onism that might be caused because of the company's mismanagement last year. The members voted unanimous ly to grunt his wisn. At present the company has two planes paid for and Mr. Lees expects his mechanic in a few days, when the machines will be put into first class condition. Nominating Committee. A nominating committee to nomin ate -candidates for the chairmanships of the 25 committees was appointed by President 11. K. O'Brien.
