Most of the farmers on the Sandridge are doing away with the use of bags on their combines and are hauling tho grain in bulk, says County Agent Spill man. ' Mr. Splllman state that the grain all over the county will likely turn out much better than as expected a few weeks -ago. On the Charles Playle ranch at Union, he says, where biinrest started yesterday also, tho crop is turning out close to thirty bushels. Wells had been In the east for several months ahd the boy arrived while she was visiting at the home of her parents in Baltimore. Mr. Wells went east a month ago to bring them home. Warren Company Official Hero- Mr. Roy Price, traveling auditor for the Warren Construction coin pany, was in La Orande yesterday looking up matters in connection with the company's work in this dis trict. Mr. Price left this morning for interpnee where tha company n.-.s contracts tor 4 0,000 yards of street paving for 'which the grade work is about completed. Premiers Delivered at Joseph Mr. Welch, salesman for the R. D Bade company, has comploted the de livery of two Premier ears to the 'agency at Joseph. Ono is a four passenger and tho other a seven pas senger car. Mr. Welch states that in the Mlnum district the) smoke was bo thick that it was difficult to see the way. Waverly ApartmcntN Sold Mrs. J. Mrs. Kenneth Evans Passes Mrs. Kenneth Evans, wife of Ken neth Evans of this city, died last night at the Eastern Oregon hospital, wherr she had been a patient for several years. Mr. Evans received the mes sage announcing her death this morn ing, just in time to enable him to catch No. 17 for Pendleton. She hail been very low for several days before death finally came. Funeral arrange ments have not yet been made. Returned Home- Charles R. Johnston, of Baker, pass. ed through the city this morning on No. S en route to his home after spending two years overseas. Ho was a member of the first division. Ho is wearing; two wound stripes, one re ceived at Chateau Thierry and the other at Verdun. He has just received his discharge from Camp Lewis and ill make his home at Baker from now on. Her From Portland Mrs. Charles H. Chick arrived in the city this morning from Portland, to visit with relatives and friends. Mrs. was iormcrly Miss Syra Kuhn, ami was for many years a resident of La Gone to Imbler Darrell Larson arrived in the citv last night from Pendleton and left thh morning for Imbler to spend a fen days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. I J. P. Larsen. He will return to Pen- "dleton Friday. Here From Corvallis L. J. Allen arrived in the city this morning from Corvallis, to transact business. He is a guest at the Foley Hotel.
