Private Fred Gardner, of Baker, stopped off in La Grande this morn ing' on his way home from Camp Lewis. He will visit friends in this city for a few days. Poster woik of eighth grade pupils of the La Grande schools is now on exhibition at the public library. ' Aboilt sixty posters designed under the supervision of Miss Blanche Clark, who is in charge of art work in the pqblic schools, hav been arranged for examination by parents and the gen eial public. Each ono is an original working out cf an ornamental library notice, for use in a : public library building. Most of the wording was supplied to the students, but the treat ment is their own, and shows much in dividuality. The work is arranged to show the posters from each building separately. The classes which made the posters were conducted at the Central school by Miss Janet Jones; in Greenwood by Miss Edith Wilson, and in the Riveria building by Miss Edith Bork. Among the names of the children who design ed the posters may be noticed many who are frequent patrons of the li brary. The conception of many of the designs show a remarkably keen ap preciation of the meaning and atmo sphere of the public library. The wording of the signs include siirh no fiioo no "Pit .in HmiiiU Vpnti Clean Things should ba pupping next Books." "Now M:-w'.-s nl .Hip Pub Wednesday night when the Mormons !
