structures prevented profitable trans

It became evident last spring that
there would be a marked decrease in
the use of cunal for transportation
of coal, due to the fact thut coal wns

there was an unusual demnnd for
the transportation of miscellaneous
freiftht between New York and Phil
adelphia by this route. The canal has
for many years been under lease to
the Pennsylvania Railroad Company
