C0IH113 has gone to Pendleton to visit with her hus band, who is running a switch en gino out of there. Mi's. Eva Hutchinson, who has been spending the holidays with her mother, Mrs. Hawley, returned to Portland this morning. Iloyal Conlty, vho has been in La Grande on a furlough, has re turned to the Officers' Training School in Portland. Major J. Francis Drake, who haa been here iu connection with the ro organizatlo n of -.he local Oregon Guard companies into one company of the National Guard, left this morning for Portland. FIRE DEPARTMENT CALLED The fire department was called to 1404 Cherry street yesterday to the home ot D. B. Ashley, to put out a cellar fire. The fire was caused from thawing out pipes and did little or no damage. ! 1 The alarm rung in on Sunday was from 81)8 Fourth street at the home of E. W. Eastman. A gasoline stove had leaked and ignited the carpet, but the fire was put out before the de partment arrived and caused, very lit tle damage. Bargains. After tho ceremony a buffet sup per was served by members of the Phi Mu sorority, of which the bride is a member. Mr. Patty when at the university was a member ot the Acacia frater nity. He recently received his dis charge from the United States en gineer corps. , Mr. and Mrs. Patty loft for a short woddlng trip to Portland and other coast cities. The bride's travelling suit was blown velour with beaver trimmings.
