Because of the ban on public gath erings, a private funeral was held Sunday1 afternoon at the resilience of the deceased, which was attended by relatives and immediate friends. In terment took place in the , Prairie Creek cemetery. Rev. R. L. Dunn, of Enterprise, officiating. Thomas Newton i,stes was born in Fulton county, Arkansas, on Decem ber 5, 1846. On April 24, 5870, he was united in marriage to Julia Ann Tucker. In 1878 he. and his wife, in company with a group of other hardy pioneers, crossed the plains and fi nally settled on ft homestead. on Prai rie, Creek, where they lived with their. r...;i., nt; vmt nt which time, he retired and moved to Joseph, j He died on November1 1, 1938, at the ' age of,. 71 years, 10 months and, 20 days..
