Xnvel Supply But 13 Per AVIiilo ( nltfiii-nia Valencia Is ' ' c v ; tiood. .'. LOS ANGELES, Calif., April 20. Present abnormal prices of Cali fornia navel oranges are explain ed, in recent figures complied by crop authorities. These figures show that only fifteen per cent of the normal navel crop of California came to maturity as a result of the heat wave last June, the most de structive in thirty years. As a result of the unusual heat, eighty five per cent of the young navel fruit -shriveled and dropped from the trees. The natural consequence has been larger oranges and a sup ply far belo.w the demand and there fore higher than usunj prices. The truth Is that there has not been anywhere near a normal sup ply of California oranges since the shiprlng season opened last Novem ber. They will not be on the mar ket In abundance until the'new shipping season opens in May. The summer crop of California Valencia oranges promises to bo good. Unless- thero Is a setback In weather conditions or transporta tion facilities, the market will af ford a bountiful supply of theso practically seedless oranges from , California at considerably lower prices.
