Carfax" has a clever plot and a lot of real Interest. This hanky subject was written by Hector Turn- bull and Gardner Ilu'iilng, the bitter being responsible for the scenario. They are deserving of praise for their work. It la a rare exampio of a story being written around a cer tain player and being cut to fit his measure. The writers have put pep Into their subtitles. They have taken' pains to Instill In the minds of those who see tho picture that Mrs. Car Yax is feminine only an to garb and when In "company" as to mannur; but among "her" friends- the Im personator Is Templo Trusk, a husky specimen of healthy masculinity. It Is this phase of tho picture that constitutes one of Its strongest points. It crops out continually in the action as well as in tho subtitles. The absence of the spoken voice can but add to the illu sion, end surely it requires little stretch of tho imagination to feel that Mib. Carfax really is fooling the public. Mr. Kltinge has not the advantage of the presence In the cast of Tul'y Marshall, who contributed so mater ially to the success of his first sub ject. "Tho Frame-Up" Is an unusually' entertaining five-part comedy-drama featuring William Itusscll. The story ; does not appeal as being an especial- ly well-constructed one, hut the ac-' lido is both amusing and thrilling. As tho story runs, tho young son of a rich man Is awakened one morn ing from a dream of a wild dr've In his racer, which, by the way, Is! amusingly pictured, to a resolution to take a vacation from the hard task of doing nothing. In the course of the day he rescues a young woman. Die daughter of a taxi-cab owner, from an unscrupulous chauffeur nud la offered a position by the glil'n mother. In taking this position he helps to capture three yeggmen and; finally marries the girl.
