Northwest Hardware and Implement
Dealers' Association opened a three
day convention here today, at which
prominent Washington, Idaho and
Oregon retailers will discuss the pe
culiar situation brought about In
their line by the war and the feder
alization of railroads. Lectures on
merchandising, salesmanship and
advertising will bo given by Eastern
hardware experts.

SPOKANE, Wash., Jan. Grocery
stores, meat markets and virtually all
other lines of retail business tried

Spokane last week. Almost without
exception tho proprietors declared the
