tion centers In all military encamp
ments, Knights of Columbus
throughout Oregon today launched
a big drive for subscriptions. Tho
Knights of Columbus and tho Y. M.
C. A. were tho two organizations de
signated by the National Training
Camp Commission to handle the re
creation work among the men.
As In the Y. M. C. A. centers, the.
K. of C. centers will be open to all
men, Irrespective uf religion, and
they are proving highly effective.
There are K. of C. center at all
American camps, and the fund now
being raised Is for erection of addi
tional recreational buildings for the
troops In France.

In the recent Red Ctobs Christmas
membership drive, totals today show,
on a basis of population. The Na
tional Red Cross calls the showing
"amazing." Daring the campaign,
Oregon enrolled 31 per cent of Its
population In the mercy organiza
tion. Washington enrolled 28 per
cent. Far away Alaska led every
thing with a' 33-per cent record.
