""Tho Cricket" Is an offering with n strong jiivenllo nolo and one that will make Jta particular appeal to thn heart -Interest In which the scones of the tendon pathetic typo are frequent and tho 'happy'' cloao 'ls n satisfying one. 'The cast Is a pleasing one. ; Zoe Ray appears as "Tho Cricket" In the' beginning. Rena, Rogers plays the same role In later years, and when sho mitrrlos, Zoo Rae again ap pears as tho child. Both performers make the most of their parts. Tho story opens with "Tho Crick et" bolng asked by her young friend, Pascal, to tako part In a Juvenile play. Hor mother consents, and she goca with the boy to the garret studio of Savollno, Ceasar and Plnglet, threo Quick Deliveries are feature of this lumber business. Noveihber IS, 1317. My Dear Wife: ' This Is Sunday morning and as I listen to the church bells ringing this makeB mo think of La Grande. Tho Y. M. C. A. Is putting up a tent nnd I suppose will hold services soon. I sent some of tho boys the other day to help build a platform for tho piano. The secretary Is from tho New Enalanw states some where. For the past week the weather has been very good, not any rain; foggy most of the time, and tho sun shines occasionally. Am running a hospital now; start ed November 14. Am getting along fine nnd things aro moving along just dandy. The boys are glad to have something to keep them busy and, until the newness wearB off, will not have to do much urging. ' Tho boys are all well and considering every thing, aro very well contented. Tho Division Surgeon is a fine man and a stickler for discipline, so you always feel you have sonic bucking. It gels dark about 4:110 P. M., so wo havo breakfast at C:45 A. M dinner at 12:00, and supper at 4:30 P. M. Had a small operation yes terday: will get all of that wo want by Spring. Haven't gained much In weight but am focling so well and strong that I eat only two meals a day. Hail,' my hair clipped f.hort, as I havon't any use for hair over here. Go to bed about 7 or 8 and get up at 6:00. The people In Franco live on tho community plan; no hour.es or barns In the country, but all built together In towns. The people, chickens, pigs, sheep, ' horses and catllo all live In tho Biime house. You wako up In the morning and find two or three chickens roosting on your feet. The boys 'will have some funny tales to tell when they get home. I have a good laugh frequently at tho talk they put through. Franco is in deed a beautiful country, so green with grass and vegetation and just artist friends, who play a prominent part In tho narrative. The child makes-a great success nr her first stngo appearance, but thin is sad dened by the inimedinte news of her mother's death. "Tho Cricket" is then adopted by the three nrtlsts, who have learned to love her. All goes well until the problem of choosing a husband for her arises. They select the son of a banker an a man worthy of her hand, but Pascal, npw an actor, reappeai'H, and tho girl choooos him. Tho art ists protest anil the girl In time runs away and marries Pascal. This leads to an estrangement of the three friends but Inter there Is an all around reconciliation nt tho old studio. ' This picture will ho shown at the Star Sunday nnd Monday.
