have been added and the choir is ex-

lent voices. Among the leading voices

pastor has planned to have short but
instructive sermons in the evenings.

city are co-operating with the Christ
mas spirit along with the regular
1 amount of school work in a very in
teresting way. Each room 13 appro
priately decorated and many of the
rooms have Christmas trees. All
memory work are Christmas selec
tions, and songB of the holiday sort
are being sung each day.
Some rooms will on Friday give
simple yet very Interesting programs.

ment requires 1500 at once. The
matter was taken up with Superin

chief dispatcher on the road. Mr.
Eagiin has offered his services to the
Government through fiupt. D. C,
Hamilton and there Is every prospect
of a class of 25 being formed early in
January to receive two hours In
struction every evening. The O. W.
R. & N. through their division sup
erintendent, W. Ilollons, has offered
the employees club as a clafi3 room
and the Government will furnish all
equipment If the clasB can be raised.
If the matter can be put through and
sufficient pupils volunteer the class
will he refilled during the period of
the wai as fast as candidates graduate.

There is good philosophy in "Little
Misu Optimist," that will be shown at
the Arcade theatre Friday and Sat
urday. The picture Is wholesome in
tone, with a distinct church atmos
phere. Tho latter is not offensively
so, if tho expression limy bo used,
having In mind the man whose inter
ests and recreations He In other di
rections... If It were not for the mur
der committed the piece is one that
might well be sliown within the walls
of a church.. It is n good human, all
around story, one that should go well
In any house.
Vivian Martin Is well cast lu the
role of Maizie-Roslo Garden, the
freak name bestowed on the heroine
by Gardner Hunting, author of the
story. Mazie Is a cheerful little per
son, one who believes happiness to
a large degree consists not In what
you have, but In what you hope to
have. Her philosophy has to take
sonic pretty rough bumps but It with
stands It.
Tom Moore Is Peal llondrle, n
down-iind-outer, befriended by Mazie,
but who comes back under the In
spiration of her friendship. Ctinrlps
West Is Hen Cardln, the brother of
her heroine, who seems to have more
than his share of bard luck. Krnest
Joy is John Went, a coal merchant,
who befriends Hendrle. Charles
Gerard is Winter, tho embezzling
bookkeeper of West, who In a strug
gle with his employer kills him.
Hubert Thoi nhy directs the pict
ure. The story Is well hooked up.
A haltered dime figures much In the
tale, and every time it enters It
makes more rare the conviction of
