The total string of live stock amounted to only 2000 cattle, 0400 hogs and 14iH sheep. While the offering waa iiitht the quality, of the. niock presented, ! generally speaking, was good, and the liKht volume came at un oppor tune time Inasmuch as it gave an ex cellent chanco for easing up tho ctowded situation In the feed lots of file killers, and the weeks work Ik opened tho market thoroughly. Cat tle have returned to strong pries and are probably selling better to day than on any previous Satunl.y in six weeks. : Sleern which brought 10 cents yesterday were not as good In qual ity as the steers which brought 10 cents at the high time In the market of tho previous month. If a car load of steers were received now that bora the same quality as thorn; which topped the market last month thnv would unquestionably croas the scales at 10.25 or better, if prices paid indicate demands under present conditions. We quote tho following prices for tho closing market of the week, which indicate strong condi tions and upward tendencies: Med. to choice steers, 9.50-10.00; good to medium steers. 8.75-S.50; common to good sheers 7.25-8.25; choice cowu and heifers, 0.7 5-7.7 5; common to good cows and heifers, 5.25-7.00; canners, 4.00-5.25; bulls 4.SQ-fi.7!i; caves, 7.00-9.50; Blockers and feed ers, 4.00-7.50. Hogs have been changing hand." promptly on arrival nt tho yards throughout the week at steady pric es. The quality has not been as good at the close of the week as was coin ing at tho week's opening, but whil secondary, yet tlie bulk of the ship ment Is not poor. All conditions In the hog department nre firm and carry a; healthful tono. Wo quote: prime light 16.20-1(1.40; urime heavy 16.00-10.20; pigs, 13. 50-14. 23; bulk, 16.20. The sheep market continues to bo rnther sluggish y,-i!h'a tendency to wards weakening. Yet, very littlo quality stuff has 'been sacrificed In price. The general run of tl4s de partment has barely held Its own, with very light receipts and a very light demand. We quote the follow ing prices in U1I3 department: West- . .
