As we' grow older and lc3s active, less and less food is required to meet the demands of our bodies.- If too much is habitually "taken, tho stomach will rebel. When a man reaches the advanced ago of 85 or 90, you will find that he is a ligh; eater, fie as careful as you will, howevor, you will occas ionally eat more than you should and will fool tho need of Chamberlain's Tablets to correct tho disorder. -Those tablets do not omaip popsin, but strengthen the fctonnch and enable it to perform its functions naturally. ' Tho United States undoubtedly will liave many completely motorized batteries before the war Is over,, but the honor of being the first in this country's servleo goes to Itatlijry Fifth Field Artillery, Vnlted' States Army. It was formed at Fort Sill, Okla., and, is commanded by Captain V. H. Capron. i Captain Capron Is a relative of Allen J. Capron, of I-ortland, and comes of a famous family of Cuprons who have been artillery commanders since the War of the Revolution. A battery consists of four guns with their limbers, and six caissons with their , limbers, six ammunition trucks, a store truck and a machine shop or repair truck. In the case of guns of smaller caliber a tractor I will haul a section or artillery which consists of a caisson aud its llinher and a gun and its limber. Much shorter poles are used than with horses, the end of the pole being pro- Ivldod with a lunet oreyo, making the coupling for the tractor. Each I tractor pulls a-loail-f about nine tons. 1 The vehicles used In the first mo torized battery at Fort SHI are the Six trucks, the Holt 4B-horsopower caterpillar tractor and a Dodge Bi os, touring car. ' Tho entire motorized artillery brl- j gade as proposed by, the War De partment will be composed of three regiments having . u maximum strength of 3685 officers and men. It will have 72 guns and 108 cais sons. To keep this equipment work ing will require 108 ammunition trucks, 27 Btore trucks, 90 tractors, 21 repair cars, nine passenger trucks, nine tank trucks and 37 Btipply trucks, all motor driven. In addi tion to those vehicles the brigade will have 297 motorcycles with Bide cars and 30 reel carts. i The adoption of universal motor ized equipment is the.'acknowledged desire Of military authorities. The fixed railroad track offers to the en emy an opportunity of delaying op erations since it is only necessary to drop a few bombs' to put trans portation facilities out of commis sion. ' Roads are easier to repair and tho uro of motor trucks and touring cars of Bturdy construction permits detours when neceBsnry. A careful record was kept of the Our Boys in France and Home Protection The men on the firinj; line represent the pick of our American youth. 6no in four of our boys at homo was sick, rejected because of physical deficiency. Many times the kidneys wore to blame. lf we wish to prevent bid ago coming on too soon, or if wo want to increaso our chances for a long life, Dr. Pierco of the Surgical Institute, Buffalo, N. Y., says that you should drink plenty of water daily between mciil3. Then pro cure nt your nearest drug store, Anurio ( double strength). This "An-u-rio" drives the uric acid out and cures back ache and rheumatism. ' If we wish to keep our kidneys in the best condition n diet of milk aiid vege tables, with only little meat once a day, is the most suitable. Drink plenty of pure water, take Anuria three times a day for a month. Send Dr. Pierce ten Dents for trial package. "Anuric" many times more potent than lithia, eliminates uric acid as hot water melts sugar. A short trial will convince you. Mii.Urkce Junks says: Junta fnw linns In regard to Dr. I'lcrcf's Anuric Tabli ts wnicn 1 took lor kidney trouble. I am Kiad to recom mend them to everyliody. ' It was chiefly because of its splendid record in this service that Dodge Uros.; motor car was chosen for the first motorized battery. ' The work of motorizing Hold ar tillery is being .pushed ahead In un aggressive manner by the Ordnance Department at Washington, says the Tlmken Maguzlne. "The knowledge of the best trained regular Army officers is be ing combined with that of automo tive engineers of generally recog nized standards. The engineering staff of the Ordnance Department is being supplemented, and . for ., the time being at least' the services of the men of first-class engineering1 ability and proper experience are be ing enlisted.
