ARC A DE BIG TREATS IN STOKE I'OK Til 10 AIRE GOKltS Two big attractions are billed to appear at the A reads Theatre today and tomorrow. Today the Hippo drome Vaudeville Koad Show will appear- in two complete shows. This week's bill is made up of a very nifty novelty illusion act by Prevett-Mer-rill & Co. iBnrrett & Iluyne are bound to please with their clean comedy, singing and dancing. Davis Ellison, the human piece of rubber will tie himself in a couple of bow knots and Perdrlat, one of tlio most accomplished piano accordionist' m vaudeville, is also on the bill. Tomorrow, Thursduy, -will see the arrival of the famous Reese Brothers big minstrel show. This big African dor attraction consists of a musical comedy entitled in the "Southland." Interspersed through tho play there are six high-class vaudeville acts with muuic, singing, dancing and umiring skits of several various descriptions. There are 15 people in the company which is said to be one of the best attractions of this character on the road. Hemembcr, this big minstrel attraction will bo ut the Arcade for only one night, Thursday. MARY P1CKKORD COMING Mury Pickford in "Rebecca of Sun ny brook Farm." . Never has a star appeared in a more desirable as well as suitable characterization . Known throughout the land as "America's Sweetheart," Mary is just tho person to portray the national type of "Re becca," tho little country girl who fought her battles alone and travelled a particularly rough road leading to her womanhood. The many charms and quaint situations of "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" are brought out in the Artcraft picture as only Mary Pickford cum. The photoplay will ap pear at the Arcade theatre commenc ing Friday. i " ' V Camp Lewis Notes (United Press.) CAMP LEWIS, TACOMA, Wash., Oct. 24. With 700 of the Coast's bast athletes competing, a division track and field meet is on at full swing here today. Owing to the number of men enter ed, preliminary events were held this morning and the semi-finals and finals are being staged this afternoon. Ev ery event ordinarily included in a col lege track meet is on today's program. This is Liberty Bond day and large ly a holiday here. Thousands are here from Tacoma and other cities. A dinphone has been placed in the center of the parade ground to signal fires. Sentries are instructed to fire twice in tho air at this discovery of a fire and then tele phone the fire's location. All other ac tivities stop at a fire alarm. Will Entertain Bridge Club Mrs. J. C. Gulling will entertain the Thurs day Bridge Club at her home tomor row afternoon. Sergeant Rice Promoted Sergeant Rice, of the U. S. Murine Corps, has received a commission as lieutenant. Sergeant Rfovs was stationed here at the beginning of the war as a re cruiting officer and did his work very ably. He is u clean cut young man and made many friends here who will be glad to hear of his success. No luck in this case, just ability, personality and hard work.
