Boston, Aug. 23 (United Press) The "soldiers of yesterday" veterans of the O. A. R., more than 7,000 strong, inarched in a huge parade here yesterday the second of the national reunion. With the veterans marched other allied organizations, among which was the Navy Medal Honor League, which is holding its annual convention in conjunction with the G. A. R. encampment. Members of the Ladies' Auxiliary, the Sons of Veterans, Daughters of Veterans and the Women's Relief Corps ot' the (3. A. R., also took part in the parade. In front of the State House the veterans were reviewed by Governor McCall; Commander-in-Chief of the (3. A. R. William J. Patterson, of Pittsburg, Pa., and city officials. Many a young soldier just beginning the game of war watched with a thrill the veterans march by with a swing that might be envied by many a regiment of today. (United Press) Since sister Susie learned to Woav smoke rings through her nose and took to carrying her cigarettes in jeAveled cases, Uncle Sam's revenue has been boosted more than $12,000,000, according to official figures here. Receipts from taxes on all forms of tobacco showed this increase, and the biggest jump was in cigarettes. Feminine devotees of the weed are believed responsible for a big part of the gain in revenue. Loudon, August 1 (By mail) (United Press) Tavo American lieutenants of the Canadian army today wear the Military Cross as a mvard for their bravery and lead ership under fire. A. II. Pannill. of Chatham, Va., and Donald MacKae, of Washington, .1). C, Avhose father is in the adjutant-general's office, Avere decorated by King George in recognition of their valor. Pannill, at Vimy Ridge took command of a company, captured part of a second-line trench and established a machine-gun position in a crater beyond the trench. His command suffered severe casualties. Pannill himself, though wounded by shrapnel, remained on the job for 2-1 hours consolidating the gains. He recently transferred to the Royal Flying Corps. Maclfae found that his major's crown Avas keeeping him out of action beause the army needed aetic lieutenants and Avas plentifully supplied Avith major officers. The Washington man was so anxious to fight that, he "pulled two stare" from his sleeve and took the rank of lieutenant.
