The Misses Ruby and Winifred Hilyard and Addie Eamcs returned Sunday from Minam where they have been camping with friends. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Peterson of La Grande accompanied the youne folks as chaperones. "' ' Mrs. Pearl Brooks returned Tues day from Baker where she has been taking medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Hayatt and Mrs. F. A. Eumes went huckleberry ing Wednesday returning the same day with a few berries, but with some fine, patches "spotted". Wellington Eamos and sisters, Edna and Addie motored to Baker today to attend the circus. Mrs Frank Earnheai t who has oeen visiting at the Hilyanl home expects to return to her home in Pendleton the latter part of the week. While I was there I went down to the Beach of Wakakii and went in swim ming. The sand on the beach is cs white as snow. They have got a big museum with all kinds r.f fishes of the tropics. There is some flying fish there too. I am getting along fine with the rifle drill and I like it. Tell Everett and Beth to write me a letter. Am going for a. hike down to Heleva, that is a little town by the sea side, nine miles from the Barracks. The mountains here are of volcanie erruptions, and they're sure steep.
