A TIME FOR PATRIOTISM.
.The governors of the Pacific Northwest did well to ad
vocate conciliation at the present time. This is a duty
that rests equally upon labor and capital. To a sane per
son there is much cause for worry in the present situation;
industrial disputes arc, cropping but eeyry where.' An-
archy, sedition and treason are abroad. It seems too bad
that at tin's time labor and capital could not pull to
gether and that the whole country could not present a
united front to the enemy. Since we are paying a penalty
for throwing down the bars, to all the people of the world
to come here and profit from our great natural resources,
we must now face the music. Colonel Roosevelt is right
when he advocated suppressing certain of the treasonable
foreign press and declared against the "fifty-fifty"
Americans. The time is right here when every persov,
who resides in this country must declare his allegiance;
. those who are not for us are against us. Men who foment
industrial strife at hie. present time, who encourage men
to strike who are. engaged in the industries essential to
war. tire traitors to the country and should be- treated' as
such. -Mm who i engage in sabotage, ruining their em
ployer's property and interests, are traitors. 'The sooner
