(Special) As a means of aiding employes of the Oregon-Washington Rail Road & Navigation company to meet the ad vancing cost of living, President J. D. Farrcll has announced substantial increase in the rates of pay of all employes receiving $200 a month or less. The new schedules will not, however, affect shop, yard or track men and others who have rectived increased pay under recent adva,...es, nor to cnginemcn and trainmen and those in classes whose compensation is fixed by schedules in contracts. LEGAL NOTICES NOTICE TO MOTOR OWNERS VEHICLE Please look your Motor Vehicle over and see if the same will meet with tho approval of the new law which went into effect on August, first, 1917. Each Motor Vehicle must display two license plates, one on the front, one on the rear of said vehicle. Each motor car must display two whito lamps on the front and cne red lamp on tho rear, said rear lamp must show a white light across tho rear license plate. Each motorcycle must display one white lamp in front, one red lamp on the rear. Tho rear lamp must show a white light across the rear license plate. When the safety of the use of any Public highway de mands, the front lights of every motor vehicle shall be dimmed so as to prevent any glare therefrom. All motor vehicle dealers must display a dealer's license upon each motor ve hicle when using the same upon the public highway within Union County, Oregon.
