(Special) Recently the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America re quested from the Secretary of War permission to present a flag to the first American troops sent abroad to i serve in the present war. The re quest, was granted, and on the 27th of June tl.s Quartermaster General sent the flag direct to Gen. Pershing. The idea is that the emblem furnished by this historic patriotic society shall be carried into battle by the vanguard of the "Sammies." The presentation was made on behalf of the society by its president, Mrs. Joseph R. Lamar. FAREWELL MEETING FOR SALVATION ARMY : Farewell meeting of Ensign Olive Childers and Lieut.
