In the forthcoming Pallas-Paramount production of "The Bond Be tween" in which George Beban will be seen at the Arcade today and to morrow it is necessary in several scenes for a young woman to pose as Venus. A Venus was secured and when called for the scene, stuck her nose out of the dressing room door into the cold air and promptly re fused to do any "Venusing" that day unless she could do it in a sealskin overcoat. Several methods were sug gested as to haw to keep the young lady warm while the picture was be ing secured and finally Mr. Beban hit upon the brilliant idea of taking a stove and putting a nice drape over it and letting the young lady stand on it. This was dor.c without informing j the prospective Venus. Barefooted, ! she stepped onto the disguised pedes tal and instead of assuming the j classic pose of the famous statue, f session will be held at 10:30 o. m. and 2 p. in. I wonder how a man feels when an heiress with $50,000 pops the question to him. If 1 were a woman and a man put my name in a "Iwenty-five years ago" society column, I would fight. I wonder if any of the money which is hid away in tin cans or old stock ings or buried in the cellar was put in Liberty Bonds. Si Hopper was in today and ho said: "The boys at Washington are so busy telling the farmer what to do, I'll be durned if I don't believe they forgit to collect their pay." It's getting to he the habit to fire people nowadays who don't make good. It must he an awful worry for a lazy man looking for a soft job. The married women some of 'em are writing tho war department and urging that their husbands be drafted. Whether they are or not, the hubbies evidently know what war is anyway. There's one advantage about "Ore gon Dry," the married men don't have to take off their shoes before going upstairs or to imitate the cuckoo clock. Si Hopper said to me today: "We're getting so we're importing so ninny English words that I have got a hired man from Canada to act as inter preter. First there was 'flapper' a little girl who flops and then 'do your bit' (meaning git in and push) and now there's '.slacker' (meaning a shirker) a feller who don't take bolt. Well there's this comfort, we don't have lo study Parley-Vous like Pershing." Sour Stomach. This is n mild form of indigestion. It is usually brought on by eating too rapidly or too much, or of food not suited to your digestive organs. If you will eat slowly, masticate your food thoroughly, eat but little meat and none at all for supper, you will more than likely f.void the sour stom ach without taking any medicine whatever. When you have sour stomach take one of Chamberlain's Tablets to aid digestion. Adv.
