cepted by the railroad. The railroad
cannot accept such donations. The
car will have to stand on its own bot
tom, and the only way it can be kept
on the run is for the actual revenues ;
and patronage to justify it. Railroad j
officials here are all in favor of the
motor car and hope that the actual
patronage will justify keeping it on
through the summer and fall.
Attends Bankers' Convention.
T. J. Scroggin, cashier of the Unit
ed States National Bank, returned to
day from Marshf ield where he at
tended the State Banker's Convention.
The bankers were tendered a banquet
at Eugene on their way to Marsh- j
field, which was very enjoyable, and j
at Marshfield they were overwhelmed j
with hospitality and entertainment j
Patriotism prevailed at all of the ses- ,
sions of this convention and the prin
cipal topic of discussion was the hand
ling of and advancing the sale of the
Liberty Bonds.

Bonds Are Speeded.
Tacoma, Wash., June 11. (United
Press) With the "Buy a Liberty
Bond" Campaign coming to an end
here June 15, the local bond commit
tee today is speeding up its activity
to dispose of Tacoma's apportionment
before the time expires.
