17 to 18.

Why the Liberty Bonds.
Borrowing by means of the Liboi ty
Bond is a method of obtaining im
mediate funds for the prosecution of
the war and spreading the burden of
repayment over a period of from 15
to 30 years, when, it is hoped, world
civilization will be in a happier state
than now. Taxation does not bring
in the funds as quickly as bond issues,
but nevertheless helps to pay off im
mediately; large part of the current
expenses of thq- government.
