Society
Another busy week in the social
world ended. Most of the entertain
ment being very informal owing to
the war cloud, but nevertheless the
first part of the week was taken up
by the Stockmen's convention and was
a great success.
On Thursday afternoon the Wom
an's Home Missionary society of the
Methodist Episcopal church were en
tertained at the home of Mrs. J. C.
Henry on Fourth street. Mesdames
Henry, Kiddle and Bidwell were the
hostesses. A very interesting pro
gram on home missions was given and
after the regular business session was
brought to a close, a miscellaneous
shower was given Mira. IW. A. Winters,
president of the auxiliary, it being
her birthday anniversary. The Queen
Esther society, of which Mrs. Winters
'is supervisor, was also well represent
ed and who assisted with the serving
of the refreshments. Those present
were Mesdames Bidwell, Beck, Ben
glesdorf, Benham, Edwards, Eritts,
Fines, Bolton, Green, F. Smith, Reed,
Pierson, Kiddle, Leffcl, Wattcnberg,

May 1, the Neighborhood club will
hold a business meeting. Tho drama
which was scheduled for this day has
been postponed. A good attendance
is requested as many important mat
ters are to be taken care of.
May 2, is annual clean up day. The
club will co-operate with the city in
conducting a clean-up campaign. The

versity of Oregon will be present.
