(Special- There has been a considerable amount of rainfall during tho past week and now tha farmer3 are wishing for sun shine so that they can get their crops planted. Measles are getting scattered throughout the school. Four cases are reported from the primary room and more are expected. Almost the entire community at tended tho flag raising at La Grande Sunday, so tho attendance at church was not so largo as usual. The boys of tho Big Mitt society entertained the Epworth League girls Friday evening. Twenty were pres ent and a pleasant timo was spent in various games. The literary society of the hicrli school met Friday afternoon for the last time. The society disbanded be cause a pageant the school is prepar ing for tho close of school and no ti.ni! can be spared from this. The debate between the members of the Junior class was decided in fnv-ir of the affirmative. The 1 ird house contest came to an end Friday. The first prize was awarded to Kenneth iMcKennon, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Tlass, and second prizo to Charles Ruhl, one of the boys is a member of the sev en! h grade and tho other of the third. The boys all did very well and two nt least show prospects of being carpen ters some time. He will be sent either to Fort Worth, Tex., or to San Diego for six months instruction.
