You Can Make Excellent Cake
with Fewer Eggs
Just use an additional quantity of Royal Baking
Powder, about a teaspoon, in place of each egg
omitted, v
This applies equally well to nearly all baked
foods. Try the following recipe according to the
new way:
CREAM LAYER CAKE
Old Way New Way
1 cup sugar
i cud milk
4 - ti -
2 teaipoona Royal Baking Powder
3 egffb
K cup shortening
1 teaspoon flavoring
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
2cupaHour
4 teaspoon Royal Baking Powda
1 egg
2 tablespoons shortening
1 teaspoon Savoring
Makes 1 Large 2-Layer Cake
DIRECTIONS Cream the sugar and shortening tog ether .then mix In the egg.
After sifting the flour and Royal Baking Powder together two or three times,
add it all to the mixture. Gradually add the milk and beat with spoon until
you have a smooth pour batter. Add the flavoring. Pour Into greased layer cake
tins and bake in m moderately hot oven fortwenty minutes. This cake is best
baked to two layers. Put together with cream filling and spread with white icing
ROYAL

made from Cream of Tartar, derived from grapes.

lion dollar Road Bonding bill which
will be rubmitted to the voters of
Oregon at a special election, June 4th.
We urge our renders to., become fa
miliar with its provisions and preserve
this issue for future reference.
The Recorder has reserved comment
on this measure for some time, feeling
it a duty to at least become in a degree
familiar with it before expressing an
opinion, and at this time it is our be
lief that the measure is one of merit,
decidedly constructive and one which,
if adopted will start Oregon on a sen
sible road building plan, eventually
providing a system of permanent

of hogs in the Seattle market Tuesday
for $14.75 per hundred, live weight.
This sale topped the market for that
day in Seattle by 15 cents. The hogs
