Slowly the Second street viaduct

city commission and it is thought the
construction will begin within a short
time. The railroad's plans have been
checked by Cty Engineer Roscoo Neal,
now in Portland, and iry Rhea Luper,

submit you my report for the week
ending March 10, 1917, as follows:
I ho fire chief reports no fires for
the week. Installed three fire alarm
bells in homes of thice volunteer fire
men. Made four electrical inspec
tions, and reports that no alarm boxes
have been molested since postinir re
ward notices. He issued labor certifi
cates amounting to $2.20 for placing
alarm bells.
The chief of police reports four ar
rests for the week, and fines paid to
the amount of $50.00. One prisoner
in jail; 14 mean served, seven sleep
ing accommodations given. Two
lights reported out; one at Adams and
Elm on nights of the 6tb nnd 7th. Of
tho four arrests made, two were for
drunkenness, one disorderly conduct,
one assault and battery.
The water superintendent reports
an expense for the week of $15.55 of
which $5.10 covered sewer inspec
tions, $2.75 thawing pipe, and $i'.(0
repair work and rigging sewer pump
and engine.
The street superintendent reports
an expense for the week of $51. (iO,
covering principally the cleaning of
ice and snow from gutters. Used
two teams and grader for hull' day
clearing roads for use of fire truck.
