sure, much less see an object of such
minute proportions, unless you are

Yet the .cylinders of automobile
motors are subjected to such rigorous
-inspections in some manufactories
that a variance of two-thousandths of
.an inch is sufficient cause for the re
jection of the cylinder under examina
tion. All Willys-Overland motors are test
ed by "go" and "no go" gauges.
The "go' gauge which allows for
one-thousandth of an inch clearance,
makes sure that the cylnder is not too
. tight for the piston. The "no go"
gauge, one- thousandth of an inch larg
er than the bore of the cylinder is
t,ed to make sure that it isn't too
large, for should that plug fit into the
.cylinder l't'-pu'd be promtly rejected.

"To overcome this condition as far
as possible we have placed orders for
a number of machines to be shipped to
us at once, for others to be shipped
us at intervals of a week apart and are
also placing all orders received, with
the factory for immediate shipment so
that they will be sure to be on hand
when wanted. All buyers are urged to
make up their minds at the earliest
possible mament or they are very
liable to be dissapointed when they do
make it up."'

this city, has telegraphed to President
Wilson pledging his support in the
present crisis, and offering to the
government the use of his immense
plant at Toledo, and its. subsidiary
plants, as well as the plants of his
allied companies, if their facilities are
needed in connection with the pending
diffeulty or later eventualties,
The Toledo factory controlled by
'Mr. Willys is one of the very large
individual plants of this country, oc
cupying 103 aores of floor space and
employing approximately 18,000 men.

Up to March 5th Mr. Bohnenkamp
has sold 11 of the new models and had
also cleaned up nearly all of his used
piuchines. When the weather condi
tions are considered this is a record
of which to be proud. At this time
lust year he had sold but four mach
ines although the weather last year
.t this time was favorable for the use
and sale cf motorcycles.
The new motors sold this year are
toot all for La Grande riders. About
kalf of them have been purchased by
rider of Imbler, Summerville, Elgin
and other adjacent towns. In fact it
looks like motorcycles are gaining fav-

and neighboring towns.
FOR THE MOTORIST
Smart extra coats are shown in a
hu ge number of models. One, of yel
lowish tan Bolivia cloth, has a full
raglan back with a double breasted
front, with four inch waist gathered
at either side and belted with a but
toned strap. The sleeves have deep
cuffs with ruffles of the cloth finish
ing the tops. The collar is a convert
ible model, and the coat is lined with
wine colored satin. At the bottom
of the front there are two three-inch
wooden buttons with cord loops. An
other coat is of the new plaid twilled
gabardine. The plaid is black, white,
green and a red line making an over
plaid. The model is a pleated rag
Ian with a wide girdle belt.

within a certain radius without

though the auto show will occupy the
building Thursday, Friday and Satur
day. Cars will be stored in other gar
ages and repair work will be cared for

Gives High Praise
For The Velie Car
A. Thomas, formerly of La Grande,
but now of Buhl, Idaho, where is sup
erintendent of thc sugar factory is an
enthusiastic booster for the Velio car.
Thc company which Mr. Thomas rep
resents owns three Velie cars, "They
have given such good service," says
Mr. Thomas, "Oiat vho company has
ordored five more cars and they arc
coming on a special shipment.
"The Velio is certainly the car to
drive," said Mr. Thomas, "and you
couldn't get me to drive any other. I
certainly congratulate Mr, McCrary
for getting the agency for such a fine
car.
