(United Press) There are the same old disappoint ments, the same old rocks, and the same old second division finish ahead for the St. Loui3 Cardinals. Nothing else can be said. The team, if anything, is weaker this year than last, which is saying considerable. Miller Huggins has some good ball players running around for him. There is Roger Hornsby, the amazing youth who disputed the batting cham pionship of the National league last year. There is Willio Doak and there is Mule Watson. Both are excellent pitchers. But they can't win a pen nant by themselves, nor with the help of the crew that is helping. First base seems to be just as much of a problem as ever for Huggins, with the probability that iButler and Snyder will alternate on the job just as in former days. Betzel or Butler for second base, Hornsby or Miller for third base and shortstop seem. to about all that can be said for the in field. Miller, Wilson and Bob Bescher, none of whom nas knocked the popu lace stiff with hij antics for some years, are carded for outfield duty. The catching staff is nothing to en thuse over, with Snyder and Gonzales to do the bulk of the work. In the pitching staff and there alone, seems to be any fame that the Cardinals may lay claim to. ARREST BOOTLEG SUSPECT I Enterprise, Or., March 8. Henry (Hank) Wright, a well known char acter of this city, was arrested Sun day by Sheriff F. D. Rinehart charged ,with bootlegging. While the officers did not find any intoxicating liquor they assert they have sufficient evi 'dence to convict Wright. He was placed in jail and Monday gave a $500 bond. ; This is the first arrest made by Sheriff Rinehart since he took office January 1. 1917. Miss Elva Greene Married. Miss Elva Greene of Snokane. for- 1 merly of La Grande .and a sister of Mrs. G. L. Biggers and Rex Greene of this city, was married Sunday to I Fred Pein of Okanogan, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Pein will live in Okanogan. Wallowa Mill Is Closed Down. O. E.
