health district show 13 births and
three deaths. But February, 1916,
had 21 births and seven deaths. How
ever, last month was so much better
than January that physicians and Col
onel Roosevelt jwo pleased. There
were nine births and eleven deaths in
January.

was fined $25 by Municipal Judge

board of directors of the Young Men's
Christian association of La Grande,
Oregon, that our institution and our
community by the death of our neigh
bor and brother, George Stoddard,
have lost from our midst a worthy,
upright and infucntial man and citi
zen, and
Be it further resolved, that the
Young Men's Christian association of
La Grande, Oregon, extend to his wii'o
and to his family their deepest sym
pathy in their bereavement and assure
them that though the page in the Iwok
of life wherein is recorded his death
may be dark, yet it is gloriously il
luminated by the remembrance of his

of pulmonary tuberculosis.
