Returning soldiers con tinued to play the game and, as it gradually progressed, it became the entertaining sports of thousands. The Spanish-American war saw the samo conditions. Men, returning from Cuba or from concentration camps, were sports lovers. They sought out baseball and other forms of amuse ment with such avidity that unprece dented eras of prosperity followed.
