mind to enlist before trying this orig
inal way of deciding once for all to
follow the fortunes of the "soldiers of
the sea."
Hartman, who takes an optimistic
view of life, despite his fatalistic be
liefs, left today for the marines train
ing station at Mare Island, Cal., fully
convinced that the gods of chance are
the wisest counsels.
