Winstock, a well known motion picture man, who spoke here I for the Republican national commit tee, passed through Ia Grande this morning on his way to Boise to attend a convention of motion picture exhibi tors. Mr. Winstock is now connected with the Triangle company and is j making a tour of the Northwest in their interests, lie will stop on in Iji Grande about the fifth of February. J. G. Snodgress lost his auto chain Saturday. He advertised it the same day in The Observer and before night his chain was restored to him. Whua! Butter' I'd Again. ' Butter took another jump today j five cents a pound. It now retails at i T0 cents a pound. The cause for the raise, creamerymen say, is the short age of cream and the high cost of feed. ! SHERRY THEATRE "The House of Quality" Died Sunday Morning Young Man Was Hurt January 5 .Mill Intended to Ik- Married June. at Shirley Neukirchner, the young man badly injured at the planer in the Pal mer mill January 5, died in the Grande Rondo hospital yesterday at 4:20 a. m. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Neukirchner and would have been 21 years of afte June 19. He had then planned to marry Miss Flor ence Kimmel. Shirley Neukirchner was born and reared in La Grande. He is survived by his parents and four sisters, Gladys, Ida, Alberta and Marie. The funeral, in charge of J. C. Henry, will be held from the Christian church Wednesday with burial in the Masonic cemetery- Mr. Neukirchner was a member of the Modern Woodmen and the Royal Neighbors. He carried in surance in the Woodmen and an old line insurance company. Arrested on Liquor Theft Charge. Dewey Stanfield, 18, and J. A. John son, 2.'l, were arrested yesterday morn ing on a charge of stealing two cases of whiskey from the American Ex press company here. Johnson is said to have confessed. Arrested for Selling Alcohol. J. N. Cox was arrested last night and charged with selling a bottle of alcohol to George Rippey at 215 Fir street.
