committee from the Club, of which
Mr 8. Oonohue is chairman, to ar
range for their part in the heavy work

necessitate.
The ladies first had o meeting with
the banquet committee of which T. J.
Scroggin is chairman and discussed
the plans for the serving of the big
banquet which will be the feature, of
the second day of the convention and
one of the. big entertainment feat
ures. Plans are being made for serv
ing a banquet for 500 and any one
who ever tackled a job like that knows
that Mr. Scroggin was relieved when
the ladies told him that they would
help in the management of the big un
ttrtaking. And that they would have
their whole organization back of them.
The banquet will be served at Zuber's
hall and it will bo. some banquets : .'
The ladies will also serve a lunch
eon, to the visiting ladies the first
day of the convention, April 24, and
will look after the reception and en
tertainment of ladies who come to the
convention, during their stay.
At last night's meeting of the ex
ecutive committee the following were
present: J. G. Snodgrass, chairman,
George T. Cochran, T. J. Scroggin,
C D. EmahiBer, A. C. Hampton, Lin
den McCullough, F. E. Stilwell, chair
man of the entertainment committee,
and Clarke Letter,

was suggested as one of the enter
tainment features in addition to the

tion drafted by George T. Cochran,
chairman of the resolutions commit
tee: Resolution.
Be it resolved by the general com
mittee appointed to arrange for the
entertainment of the Cattle ft Homo
Raisers' association convention, to be
held at La Grande, April 24 and 25,
1917, that the following sub-committees
be appointed: Decoration commit
tee, room committee, stock exhibit
committee, finance committee, ban
quet committee, entertainment com
ittee, reception committee and execu
tive board. That the duties of each
of the committees shall be as follows:

Stock Exhibit Committee.
The stock exhibit committee shall
secure a -nlace for a stock exhibit, pre
ferably the fair grounds, and at a suf
ficient time prior to the convention;
the committee shall secure pledges
from stockmen to place a sufficient
number of stock on exhibition to make
the exhibit worth while to see. As an
inducement for such exhibit, the com
mittee shall have at the disposal or
the exhibitors, free of all charge to
them, all the hny, grain and straw
that is necessary to foed and take caro
of the stock placed on exhibit. The
committee shall further provide the
men necessary to keep the stables
clean and to handle the hny.
Entertainment Committee.
(1) The entertainment committee
shall provide for tho necessary ad
vertisement and publicity work of the
convention.
(2) Shall provide and make ar
rangements for the usual excursion
passenger rates, and the usual stock
exhibit rates that are granted by the
railroad companies for such gather
ings and exhibits, . .
(3) . Shall provide the necessary

This committee shall dress in uni
forms of white similar to the white
flannel heretofore worn by the mem
bers of the Elks lodge, on various oc
casions. They shall secure a pledge
of all the autos in La Grando for
free use during the convention in "joy
riding" for the delegates and visitors
to the convention. The committee
shall meet all trains beginning with
No. 18 on the 23rd day of April, 1917.
This committee shall secure the neces
sary badges of the association colors,
to furnish each delegate and others
entitled thereto, with such badges, and
in addition to such badges shMl secure
a number of souvenirs to present to
for the finance committee to- raisev
then upon the order of the executive
board, the finance committee shall:
raise, by subscription, any deficiency
that there might be between . the
amount herein described and the bud
get as established.
(4) Inasmuch as a
fast was . served at Baker last year,
and that it is one item that snouia
properly become an annual event of
the Stock Raisers convention, this
committee shall . tut on a cowboy
breakfast at the exhibit pavilion, on
the second morning of the convention,
which breakfast shall begin at 7
o'clock in the morning, so that the
delegates to the convention will have
ample opportunity to view some of
the fine stock which helps make Union
county prosperous.
(5) This committee shall secure a
place to hold the convention, which
place shall not be allowed to present
any bill to the convention.
The executive board shall consist of
a president, secretary and treasurer,
of the general committee, and it is
the dutv of the executive board to 0.

all money, and no money shall be cx
pended or any bill contracted by any
person in the name of this committee
unless Buch bill has been O. K.'d by
the executive board, and no bill of
this committee shall be paid until
such O. K. has been secured.
