The Observer office. Mr. Ames re ports that the snow is a good tiling for the farming country and he pre dicts great development in the vicin ity of Telocaset. Homesteaders who 'went in there only a few years ugj and took up land are making good and raising 25 to HO bushels of wheat to the acre. Farming takes some worh, mixed up with some brains, says Mr. Ames, but those who are willing ti work, he says, will surely make good. Mr. Ames says that while there are still some jack rabbits left, that they are not the pest they were a few yeais ago. The last hard winter put the kibosh on quite a few of them. Loney Married in Portland Andrew G. Loney, eornetist with the La Grande eity band, was married in Portland yesterday to Miss Lydia Jaehnke. Mr. and Mrs. Loney will re turn to La Grande Satrday or Sun day to make their home. Mr. Loney is a Portland boy but has been an employe of the O-W. R. & N. com pany in this city for the past year.
