(Special) i There wasn't any school Tuesday due to tho severe blizzard which raged a'l day. Tho weather has been very bad the past two weeks, with snow aid wind together most of the time, but I the snow is nearly all in drift now. Mr. fuller, the mail carrier, has found the roads very difficult to travel. On account of the condition of the weather, Mrs. D. W. Miller postponed the meeting of the Get-together club 'members which was to have been held January 4 at her home, to January 11. William McCauley went to Portland the first of the year where he entered an automobile school. He expects ti complete a thorough course before re turning. Henry Counsel! went to Joseph Wednesday morning for a ten days' visit with relatives and friends. Misses Louisa and Bell Counsell and Henry and Frank Counsell gave their first party New Year's eve in uieir now home. After pit, rook, authors and various other gamea and music had been enjoyed, supper was served and the following returned home, feel ing that they had commenced the New Year in a jolly mood: Misses Laura Stiles of La Grande, Maude and Etta Bun ton, Mabel Bates, Helen Peobler Minnie and Gladys Drumsmith, Sibyl and Muriel Mulholland, and Messrs. Misses Effie Snider and Ethel Pear son, of the local school faculty, visited in La Grando Saturday. Lynn Stringham was a passenger to Imbler Sunday morning, having re turned from a two weeks' trip with relatives in Portland. Lynn saw Ray Narvil while in Portland and the lat ter reports that he is improving and well pleased with his treatments. Mr. Narvil went to Portland about a month ago on account of poor health.- As soon as he can secure a car to ship his stock and implements, Piercy Morris will start for Jerome, Idaho, where he has purchased a 40-acre tract near the home of his brothcr-ln-law, Milo Pratt. . , A new checker artist has been dis covered in this vicinity, N.'A.
