Candies of the mixed variety alone threaten to become well sorted over before the week is over. Candy sales are generally good this year, too. The luxuries and delicacies that go with Christmas dinners are carried in big stocks. But, as noted yesterday, the inclination seems to be to shop early and the spirit is city-wide. Pendleton, Dec. 20. (Special) llf the horsemen of Umatilla county and Eastern Oregon will signify 'their in- I terest in the proposed horse school ) here under the direction of the Ore gon Agricultural college, Dr. C. W. Lassen has volunteered to provide a place for the school. He is of the opinion that the school will be of benefit to the horsemen and is anx ious to have it established. In order to determine that it will have suffi cient attendance he has asked that all horsemen in this part of the state write him of their intention to come. ' "The school will be of particular in terest to all horsemen but particu larly to those owning and handling stallions," said the doctor. "It will be an opportunity to hear the opinion of experts on the various matters which come up every day in the hand ling of these animals. The instruc tion will be given by competent au thorities and in such a manner that it will be remembered. "The lines that will be taken up are anatomy, dissection, artificial im pregnation, horse judging, breeding and feeding. The only requirement asked by the college is a place for the meeting and I will undertake to supply this if the horsemen of the section show enough interest to war rant the establishment of the school." It is expected that the school will be held during the month of Febru ary or March, but it is necessary to make preparations at this time in order to establish the date and avoid conflicts.
