Motherless Lad Is
Happy In Germany

Happiness.
Observer readers will recall that
about three years ago an Elgin man
deliberately deserted a motherless boy,
rrd that an aunt of the little tot came
from Germany to take charge of the
infant; they will recall the bitter feel
ing that arose at the actions of the
father, who has since remained out
of sight and hearing and will recall
the sympathy that welled up over the
little fellow's lot. These same1 read
ers will be grateful to know that the
little boy is now a sturdy youngster
in Germany. Ho is happy and con
tent and a picture of him in a sailor
suit, has reached ,Mr. and Mrs. Frank
George who befriended the relatives
at the time of the distressing inci
dent. The lad is happy, well fed and
cared for that much is apparent in
the picture.
Mrs. Emily Hecke, it will be remem
bered, is the lady who came all the
way from Germany to fetch the
motherless boy to a haven of secur
ity ,and in sending the post-card she
adds a bit of irony in commenting on
how the English "like the. Germans."
She declares the boy is well and hap-1

got the seeds in the hands of those
really desiring them, and so was far
better than the method of sending
them, out indiscriminately. . Congress
man Sinnott abo requested us to an
nounce that he retained a small
quantity of the seed at his office in
Washington (Room 494, House of
Representatives). Anyone failing to
obtain seeds otherwise may thus get
them directly by writing him there,
so long as the supply lasts.
