Mrs Pauline Miller Chapman arrived today ! noon H orn rortland and all are guests with their old-time friend Mrs. J. P. Graham. The three participate in a biff concert this evening at the M. E. church under auspices of the Metho dist church choir. The program be gins at 8:15. Much could be said of the merits of all of these three musi cians, but space and time forbids, yet in passing it should be remembered that few Northwest sopranos have at tained the distinction Mrs. Chapman has. District Attorney Eberhard went to Pendleton this morning to attend the Supreme court session which opened there this morning. C. A. Wiltsee and wife, of Marian, Ind., have arrived and will make their home with Chas. Albert Small and children. Mr. and Mrs. Wiltsee are genial people and La Grande gains a very desirable family to its popula tion by their coming. Mrs. F. L. Lilly returned Saturdav from the Willamette valley where she nau oeen canea Dy tne death of her rather recently. Mr. and Mrs. O'Hollaren have re turned from their honeymoon to Grand Island. They report consider able snow in the Nebraska district, al though it was molting away when they left there Friday. Mr. and Mrs. O'Hollaren will be at home to their many friends in this"' city about No vember 15th. As yet they are unde cided about a location. Rev. G. L. Clark is transacting business in North Powder and Union today in the interest of the drv amendment. Charles Albert Small is in North Powder and Union today in the inter est of his candidacy for representative from this county. Turner Oliver and Jerry Rusk were Mrs. Blakely and a group of Baker friends came to La Grande this morning in company with the remains of Mrs. Martha Crandal who died in Baker last week. The deceased was the mother cf Mrs. Biakeiy. The funeral was held this afternon with a large attendance of friends, especially from the pioneer list. Will Vote on Bonds. At an election which will be held on November 11th in Crook county will determine whether or not the Ochoco Irrigation District shall be bonded in the sum of $1,100,000. The above amount will be on a total of the Supreme court session there. Attorney Jno. S. Modgin leaves to night for Pendleton to attend the Oct ober term of the Supreme court, and to argue two cases set for trial in th-it court on Tuesday. Fred S.
