An dorson, Win disposed of lust night, when Helen Pace entered a plea of guilty to the charge of maintaining a nuisance, including the specilic charge of soiling liquor at the Eugene Room ing house, and was fined $200, with $25 costs by Justice of the Peace Hubbard. This morning both she and Hurry Pace, held in custody in the county jail, were released on payment of the fine. A vagrancy charge against her is still in effect, while the charge of 1UIIUU1 U11LV WHS UlSIlllHSeU. Harry Pace waived examination on a statutory charge, which will be in vestigated by the grand jury. Two weeks' time was allowed the couple, by Judge Hubbard, to clean up their affairs in Baker and leave the city. Abatement proceedings in regard to the Eugene rooming house, District Attorney Godwin stated this morning, will be allowed to hang fire for a time, as he expects that arrangements will be made by which a bond in the neigh brohood of $500 will be given, to in sure the lawful use and occupancy of tn0 place in the future. City Manager's Report. La Grande, Oregon, October 4, 1910. General Manager's report for the week ending September 30, 1916: The fire chief reports three fire calls for the week, which were as follows: September 29 at 4:20 a. m. had a call to the corner of Madison nnd Hem lock, found the barn cif Ed Bussey to be on fire which had gained good head way, barn and contents was a total loss, laid 300 ft. of hose. September 30, at 11:30 a. m. had o call to the corner of L and Fifth to a grass file. used 35 gallons of chemicals. October 1st at 1 p. m. had a cail to the corner of Sixth and Spring to Tom Ormond residence; the roof was burned some n(l the house ar,d contents was dam aged bv water, laid 550 feet of hose. The water superintendent reoorts the following expenditures for the week: sus reading meters: $11). 88 low ering service pipes; $3.75 settling sewer ditch on G avenue and $1.87 putting in a tap 1SU2 bast Perm ave nue. The street superintendent's report for the week wrs as follows: spent $28.50 for team and driver; $15 for white wing; $9.05 for cross walk lum ber; repaired six cross walks and one bridge; cleaned gutters and catch basins in business district; sprinkled macadam roads end flushed business district hauled fire hose to G avenue and back and hauled fire hose to dump grounds. The chief of police reports two ar rests, one drunk and one disorderly: served one meal; had one special of ficer; had eleven sleepers, and collect ed $3 for feeding impounded stock. The city treasurer's receipts and disbursements for the week were as follows: Water rents $100.55; Im provement District Interest $118.45; Improvement District Installments $G40.99; Imp. District Interest No. 88 $11.59; Imp. Dist. No. 88 Installments $15.45 license $10; electrical permits 50 cents; taxes from the county treasurer, general tund $1281.41; special interest $137.79; road fund $275.58; district No. 27 and general $688.92; park fund $08.89, and library fund $96.45, recorder's turnover for the month of September was as fol lows: Contingent fund $o3; general fund $40.25; revolving fund $67.73; Imp. warrant interest $40.36: sewer 2. Sec. 1. $17.48. sewer 3, Sec. 1, $51.36, Imp. Dist. 8-A $33.52, and Imp. Dist. No. 24 $29.81; his disbursements were as follows: Imp. district interest $30, water warrants $116.26, pound war rant $21.50, revolving warrant $183.53, contingent warrant $6.11. The recorder's report for the week was as follows: receipts from feeding impounded stock $3.00; certificates of sale, sold to city $183.53; one building permit 50 ccnts-p issued license for minstrel show per treasurer's receipt for $5; issued license for selling pho tos per treasurer's receipt for $5; is sued warrants on the pound fund for $21.50; on the general fund for $876.90 final estimate on the old town trunk sewer; on the revolvine fund for $183.53 in payment of certificates of sale; on the contingent fund in the sum of $6.11 for paid outs allowed; on the water fund in the sum of 43 cents for paid outs allowed; on improvement district fund in the sum of $30 for interest on Imp. bonds Nos. 618.619, coupons No. 6, and on the B.
