Money From Last Spring's Art Din pluy Spent to Good Advantage ' Fruits of labor and patronage ex pended last Spring when a famous group of art pictures were on display in Riveria school, have shown them selves. Two $5.00 pictures done in carbon for each of seven school rooms in Riveria school and a $20.00 "auro ra" picture done in colors for Misa Bork's room in that school have ar rived and are now in charge of Mrs. Nellie Neill, principal. As soon as she can assemble her teachers she proposes to have them select suitable frames and then the works of art will be prepared for the walls of the building. ! Before they are hung up perman ently they will be on display down town where the public may see them. The effort to raise the 70 odd dol lars needed to obtain the collection was expended last winter in gaining good crowds at the art displays for which small fees were charged. Bet ter than $70.00 were collected and added to this was about $14.00 from the Parent - Teacher association sources which brought the whole above $80.00 and gave the school lib eral discount, so that the pictures riw in hand really represent considerably more than the purchase price. "We are much elated over the pic tures" declared Mrs. Neill after giv ing them a cursory inspection, "and we are anxious now to get the best possible frames put on them. F. Al len. Returning from the funeral, Mrs. Vedder noticed for the first time the bell boy, Fred Hickman, aged 25, and immediately inquired of Leo Elliott, day clerk, as to his name. "I just know he's my boy," she declared. "He ran away 10 years ago from our home in Tennesee to join the navy, but I can still recognize him." Mrs. Vedder asked for an inter view with Hickman, but the latter af ter talking with his would-be mother, declared there was no chance of any relationship, although he had lived at cue Lime in Tennessee. New Militia at Hood River. The formation of Twelftih company, coast artillery corps Oregon National Guards, was effected Monday night at Hood River.
