Deal, the Grand Army veteran of South La Grande who has been in poor health for several months, is rapidly getting back to himself again being able to make trips down town His friends are glad to note that he looks as much improved as he says h feels. The Joseph Light & Power com pany was purchased the first of the week bv the Enterprise Electric company, thus completing the merg er of all the electric plants in Wal lowa county under one ownership ml management, says the .Enterprise Chieftain. . ! : The Joseph company has 15U shares of capital stock of $100 each which -were bought for a total of $57,500. All but a few of the 150 shareB were transferred on Tuesday President W. C. Sivyer, Manager M. Simpson and Attorney A. S. Cooley of the Enterprise company, and the officials of the Joseph com pany were given until September 1 to deliver the remainder. When this is done, the Joseph property will be deeded to the Enterprise company, and the Joseph corporation will be disbanded. A high voltage transmission line will be constructed 'between Enter prise and Joseph at once, forming ar. extension of the present line be tween Enterprise and Wallowa. This will link the four towns of the county together on one electric line, on which continuous service will be assured, as there are three plants, at Joseph, En terprise and Wiallowa. Two can carry the load, and so patrons have nothing to foar from any break down at any plant. , In extreme winter weather this is certain to prove a benefit. Ice in the flume has interfered with the Enterprise plant nearly every win ter for a few days, and the trouble has been far more serious at Wal lowa, as the streams are farther from their sources there, and ac cordingly are colder.- The JosepH plant draws its water direct . irom the lake by means of an underground flume, and so has an advantage in coldest weather. At other seasons, the Enterprise and Wallowa plants may be needed to help that at Jo- 'The great increase in ine use oj. electricity at Enterprise in the last two years has brought the consum mation right up to tne capacity oi the plant. The Joseph plant, How ever, normally has a large surplus over consumption, and this will be used to help supply Enterprise.. . ..
