The great commercial painting that has1 been on .exhibition here for the past week has been forwarded to Klamath Falls, Ore., where it will be presented to the people of that city under the direction of Mr. Geo. T. Compton, state manager of Oregon for the Realty Syndicate company of Oakland, Calif. Thousands have viewed this painting. There were many however in La Grande and Union county who expressed the de-j sire for fuller information regarding Oakland and its wonderful possibili ties. A folder sent out on July 10th by the Oakland Bank of Savings, one of the largest and most conservative institutions m California, makes' the surprising statement r.hat 47 new fac tories have gone into Oakland within the last six months increasing the pay roll nine thousand, employes and the population of Oakland at least fifty thousand more people.
