Union county's taxroll is being ex
tended preliminary to the next year's j
tax collections. With assessments out
of the way, Assessor U. G. Couch's i
office force is concerned with the ex- j
teiu.ion department now. Miss Huttio
Mi'Muiray is assisting m the work, I
and Mr. tkiuch expects to have the
roll complete early in September;
Court House Notes.

to date for the support of herself and
four minor children, Laura Owens
has filed suit for divorce in Circuit
court. She seeks care and custody of
the children, and sets out" that her
husband drank freely, and when in
toxicated abused the family and
"spent his money for intoxicants."
They wero married in Baker in
1802.
Jessie O'Brien is another woman
who seeks divorce, she setting out in
hev complaint that her husband John
O'Brien has deserted her. They were
married in Walla Walla in 1909 and
have no children.
Anna Smith has obtained judgment
in a suit against Jesse Brooks, a fore
closure proceedings.
Suit to recover a total of nearly $3,
000 from Attorney Frederick Stoiwer,
of Pendleton, has been filed by Henry
T. Hill of this city, the proceedings
beginning in the Circuit court of
Un:on county. The litigation in
volves some land in Umatilla county.
J. A. McCarthy has been granted
judgment in a foreclosure suit
against C. A. Hawk, Mrs. Hawk, N.
J. Mansager and the Legal Adjust
ment Co. The suit was brought to
collect about $100 and interest there
on from September, 1912, to date.
While registration books are open,
and have been since the primaries, no
one is taking advantage of the fact.
They close 80 days before the general
election.
