The Fallacy of Paraffine Base: Eastern oil manufac turers have long extolled the superior virtues of paraffine base motor oils. But Pacific Coast motorists have proved that Zero lene, made from selected Califor nia crude, asphalt-base, gave best results. Their experience is now supported by the testimony of in ternational experts. Lieut. Bryan stated before the Am. Soc. of Naval Engineers: "Oils made from the asphalt-base crudes have shown themselves better adapted to motor cylinders, as far as their carbon forminr? proclivities are concerned, than are paraffine-base Pennsylvania oils." Zerolene received highest competitive awards, San Francisco and San Diego Expositions. Dealers everywhere and at service stations and agencies of the Standard Oil Company. Ike Standard OilforNotor Cars Baker, July 24. -How he traveled in a box car from Huntingdon to Bak er, when his money which was to have taken him from Idaho to his guardian, Mrs. Bolsby, in Pendleton, was stolen by tramps, was told today by 13-year-old Elmer Boland, after being taken off the west bound freieht last night by Officer Heninger. He said that the train crew had furnished him transportation when they found his plight. Celebrating "Pio neers' Day", the anniversary of the entrance of early members of the L. D. S. church into Salt Lake Valley, un der the leadership of Brigham Young, in 1847, the Belief Society of the lo cal church provided a program of snorts and games for the children of South Baker, which was enjoyed under the trees surrounding the church hall. The youngsters assembled at 2 o'clock and disbanded late in the afternoon, after refreshments had been served. The celebration will be prolonged this evening when the merry-making will be more especially for the older members of the church. Dancing will begin at 9 o'clock at the South Baker hall, and will continue until a late "hour. For those not caring for this form of amusement, a lawn so citl will be held on the lawn outside the church. The evening's affair also will be ar ranged under the direction of the Re lief society. Easy to Hypnotize Even the Kaiser Cambridge, Mass., July 20. "I have never yet found a nerson whom I could not successfully hypnotize within a verv short time," declared Prof. Huga Muensterberg of Harvard today in a lecture on psychology l.e fore the Harvard summer school. The Professor did not even except his friend, Kaiser Wilhelm. Prof. Muen sterberg added: "Hypnotism presents a vast field for the expert. It is so easy to produce the hypnotic trance that any one can do it on others, but it is exceedingly dangerous" whr thoughtlessly or ig norantly used. It is simnly a casa of increasing the suggestibility of the mind, and it can be used in medicine to cure the momhine fiend, the alcohol fiend and all who have abnormal de sires. Often only a slight hypnosis is necessary to effect a cure for nervous disorders. "Medicine, enually with law is to be the food for the psychologist of the future. Every mental train can be measured1 exactly by almost perfect standards. The old methodR ore obso lete nd the whole science of diagnosis has been carried into the field of ex periment. Psycho-anaylsi has a great future." War Oddities. Bradford, Eng.
