At 2:110, with a good audience, Bell and Darling began their pitching battle and, notwith standing h fact that a dust storm intererred during most of the game, baseball funs witnessed the best play ing of the season in the Grande Ronde league. During the first live innings no batter was able to got acquainted with first base, either striking out or hitting a fly or grounder that was handled by. some fielder. During the remainder of the game a few men reached first b ut it was not until the ninth inning that Elgin made the lone scora of the game. Bell and Darling were both in cxcptional form and each struck out II men and only two safe hits were obtained off' each pitcher. Stringham and Workman caught both games. Outside of one muffed ball by each first baseman the entire game was errorless. Elgin fan.-, say that Sunday afternoon's playing was the fastest ever pulled off on their ground. The Elgin band was out and helped entertain the spectators who enjoyed the double blessing of the stomi and no shelter, a fire having destroyed the grand stand last week.
