Searchrest, of the New York central lines, was a visitor in the city today on business for his company. Edwin Morrison of Rinehart, brought his family to La Grande last night to entrain for West Virginia where tlhey will remain for some time. Walter Pierce and T. H. Crawford were among the La Grande people eointr to Portland last night. Nate Ardrey transacted business in Imbler this mominir. Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Nowhard, who came here to attend the recent Pio neer reunion, returned to their home in Portland this morning. Attornev C. E. Cochran was on No, 6 this morning enroute to Cincinnati where he goes as a delegate of the Portland Rotary club to the national convention of that association. Mrs. Cochran intended to accompany her husband and came as far as La Grande and was advised since leaving the home in Portland that her mother is seriously ill. As a consequence her intended ioumev has been cancelled and she will return to Portland on the next train this evenine. A. C. Martin, assistant general nassene-er aerent of tlhe O.-W. R. & N. was in La Grande this morning on his way to Baker. To an Observer rep resentative Mr. Martin stated that soecial excursion for the accommoda tion of La Grande and branch line points would be run to North Beach the latter part of this montn, com plete announcements of wludhi will be made shortly. The exposition of the Sixth Annual convention of pro ducers and actors and actorines of the screen opened in the Coliseum here today. The convention the business part of the meeting closed yester day. Tiho exposition will continue un til July 18. The movie men's exposi tion is to bo given over to the pub lic and the public's favorite stars. Your favorite whether Bushman, Pickford, Chaplin, iBayne, Stewart, Clark, Dawn, or anyone of scores of others will be here to meet you in the flesh. The players will pose and their pictures will be shown at the Coliseum within 24 hours after tak ing. Everybody is going to dance: public, stars,- producers, exhibitors, all. Exhibitors will get acquainted with producers, the public , will meet its stars; in fact it is going to be a real get-togetjher meeting for those of, Iby, or for motion pictures. Each day the crowd will be taken to some motion picture plant. An organized effort to oust, or at least standardize the moving picture censor, was planned at the convention. Tha league plans to show why it is thati the "censors are tending to put the. moving picture producers out of tousi-. ness. If there was a single national . censor over all productions, conditions; would not be so bnd, a motion picture maker said today, "although we de not even sanction a national super visor. The way it is now everybody censors us. There is a municipal su pervisor, district supervisors of every size and description and by the time? thev get through chopping our pro ductions we haven't anything, left. We are against censorship in ery. form because we don't think we need; it anymore tih'an the theatre or the newspaper needs to be censored.'"
